Intertekstualumas ir aliuzijos Ali Smith romane "Atsitiktinė" ir jo vertime į lietuvių kalbą

This MA thesis analyses the representation of intertextuality and allusions in Ali Smith’s novel The Accidental (2005) and its translation into the Lithuanian language Atsitiktinė (2007) by Indrė Žakevičienė. The novel depicts a four member family vacation in a secluded town where they meet an unfamiliar young woman who forever changes their lives. This paper presents the theoretical overview related to postmodernism and its main features. Following Brian McHale (1987), Ihab Hassan (1987), Raman Selden (2005), Steven Connor (2004), Peter Barry (1995), Julia Kristeva (1980), Glenn Ward (2002), Barry Lewis (1998), ir Patricia Waugh (1992) ideas about the concept of postmodernism and its main features. This MA thesis analyses intertextuality as one of the main features of postmodernism in the original and the translation into the Lithuanian language, concentrates on intertextual means of expression, paying a special attention to the allusions. Julia Kristeva (1980) and Graham Allen (2011) theoretical background about intertextuality and its main features is presented. The present MA thesis introduces Ritva Leppihalme (1997) ideas about allusions, the ways of classification and potential translation strategies that help to discuss about translation problems and ways to solve them when translating from one language into another. The examples used in the analytical part of this thesis reflect each character of the novel. All the characters of the novel reflect different personalities, according to this allusions are related to completely different sources. The study follows Ritva Leppihalme (1997) and Andrey G. Kirillov (2003) suggested ideas about how allusions could be classified and William Irwin (2002) theoretical aspects about allusions. The results of this master thesis reveal that the features of postmodernist fiction are clearly reflected in the context and layout of the novel. Fragmentation, as one of the main features of postmodernism, when visually text is divided into fragments, but strict rules are not applied to correct it, is more clearly reflected in the original text than in its translation into Lithuanian. Intertextuality and allusions are conveyed in the same way as in the original text. Moreover, the reader has an important role to play in discovering and recognizing allusions based on the use of his knowledge and paying a special attention to the context of the novel, which may influenced by the cultural barrier, as literary works and other means of expression may be unknown for target text reader. This paper presents a selection of various allusions from different categories that are presented using suggested translation strategies in Lithuanian language, and help to achieve the desired results and convey the same original text effect in the translation text.Šiame baigiamajame magistro darbe analizuojamas intertekstualumas ir aliuzijos Ali Smith romane Atsitiktinė (2005). Romanas lietuvių kalba publikuotas 2007 metais. Romane vaizduojama keturių asmenų šeimos atostogos nuošaliame miestelyje, kuriame jie sutinka nepažįstamą jauną moterį, kuri amžiams pakeičia jų gyvenimus. Diplominiame darbe pristotamas teorinė apžvalga, susijusi su postmodernizmu ir pagrindiniais jo bruožais. Šis darbas remiasi Brian McHale (1987), Ihab Hassan (1987), Raman Selden (2005), Steven Connor (2004), Peter Barry (1995), Julia Kristeva (1980), Glenn Ward (2002), Barry Lewis (1998), ir Patricia Waugh (1992) darbais apie postmodernizmo sąvoką ir pagrindinius jo bruožus. Šis baigiamasis magistro darbas analizuoja intertekstualumą kaip vieną iš pagrindinių postmodernizmo bruožų originale ir vertime į lietuvių kalbą, koncentruojasi į intertekstualumo išraiškos priemones, didžiausią dėmesį skiriant aliuzijoms. Darbe pristatoma Julia Kristeva (1980) ir Graham Allen (2011) teorinė dalis apie intertekstualumą ir jo pagrindinius bruožus. Taip pat pateikiama Ritva Leppihalme (1997) teorinė medžiaga apie aliuzijas, jų skirstymo būdus bei potencialas vertimo strategijas, kurios padeda aptarti susiklosčiusias vertimo problemas bei jų sprendimo būdus, kai verčiama iš vienos kalbos į kitą. Pavyzdžiai, kurie naudojami analitinėje šio darbo dalyje, atspindi kiekvieną romano personažą. Visi romano veikėjai atspindi skirtingas asmenybes, todėl ir aliuzijos yra tapatinamos su visiškais kitokiais šaltiniais. Šis darbas remiasi Ritva Leppihalme (1997) bei Andrey G. Kirillov (2003) siūlomais aliuzijų skirstymo būdais, bei William Irwin (2002) teoriniais aspektais apie aliuzijas. Šio baigiamojo magistro darbo rezultatai atskleidė, jog postmodernistinio romano bruožai ryškiai atsispindi romano kontekste bei išsidėstyme. Vienas iš pagrindinių postmodernizmo bruožų, fragmentacija, kai vizualiai tekstas yra suskirstytas į fragmentus, tačiau nesilaikoma griežtų taisyklių tam ištaisyti, ryškiau atsispindi originalo tekste nei jo vertime į lietuvių kalbą. Intertekstualumas bei aliuzijos perteikiami taip pat kaip originalo tekste. Taip pat, svarbus vaidmuo tenka skaitytojui, kuris pasitelkęs savo žinias ir įsigilinęs į romano kontekstą turi surasti aliuzijas bei jas atpažinti, tam įtakos gali turėti ir kultūrinis barjeras, kadangi literatūros kūriniai bei kitos priemonės gali būti nežinomos išversto teksto skaitytojui. Šiame darbe pasirinktos įvairių kategorijų aliuzijos vertime į lietuvių kalbą yra perteikiamos vartojant siūlomas vertimo strategijas, kurios padeda pasiekti norimų rezultatų bei perteikti tokį patį originalo teksto efektą vertimo tekste.Užsienio kalbų, literatūros ir vertimo studijų katedraHumanitarinių mokslų fakulteta
